Wednesday night, June 6th, 2012, we witnessed it happen before our eyes. Monica Cope, a friend of Anna Fuchs, with faith in God's Son, was baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of her sins. Monica is the daughter of Wayne and Cheryl Cope from Thompson Station, Tennessee.

Monica started coming to Spring Meadows by invitation from a friend to GLOW, a Wednesday night outreach for students in Spring Hill. She came back week after week, and began hearing the life-saving news of gospel. After the first video in the Hashtag Youth Series, Monica responded with desire to profess her faith in Jesus Christ through baptism.

As we sat down to talk with her family, she confessed, "I want to be baptized to have a richer, fuller, deeper relationship with God, to have my sins washed away, and to be reborn as a new person."

So, it's true. Faith comes by hearing the word of Christ (Romans 10:17). As we preach Jesus, people believe. And are baptized. Let's continue wrapping our messages in His name. God's grace, mercy, holiness, and glory are seen most clearly in Christ.

My prayer is for us all to echo the heart of Monica. For us all to grow in a deeper, fuller, more rich and excellent understanding of salvation. For us all to be captivated as we comprehend the width and depth and height of God's love. Think about it...

  • Where else can this happen?
  • Where can dead people come back to life?
  • Where is the slave be redeemed?
  • In what court does the guilty become innocent?
  • Where is wrong forgiven? Aliens become citizens? Enemies become friends?
  • How can a sinner be sanctified?

Where does all that happen? Scriptures points us to the place of repentance. The place where we turn from sin and trust in the saving gospel work of Jesus Christ. Praise God for the greatness of the gospel. His wise and wonderful plan for salvation.

"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth." (Ephesians 1:7-10 ESV)
