The Barnabas Project
Will you join us?
This morning at Spring Meadows I proposed "The Barnabas Project" - a seven week initiative to encourage, encouragement. Many accepted the invitation to join this effort. Here's the plan:
For each of the next seven weeks (which will take us to July)
Find a way to encourage in an extraordinary way*.
1 Person in your family each week (a total of 7)
1 Person in the church each week (a total of 7)
1 Person at work/school each week (a total of 7)
AND write 1 email this week to me. In this email tell the story of the person who has most encouraged you and how they did it. This story may end up being shared in public - if you'd rather it not be let me know.
*This is something above and beyond what you would normally do: Something that will make them feel encouraged, appreciated. Think creatively. Have some fun with it. Do something toward them that if done toward you you'd feel appreciated and encouraged.

The First Steps Ministry is designed to work with families in their baby’s first steps of faith. We want to teach them that God made them, God loves them, and the Bible is from God. Children ages 6-24 months are loved and taught about God’s Love through repetitive songs, rhymes, and manipulatives.
God’s Little Lambs Ministry is designed to assist families in their child’s discovery about God. We want to teach them that God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. On Sunday, there is a separate class for 2’s, 3’s, and Pre-K. On Wednesday nights, the 2’s and 3’s are together, and the Pre-K and K classes are combined.
The KFC Ministry is designed to cultivate our children’s growing faith in God by studying the Scriptures, encouraging Christian fellowship, learning to love and serve others. We will center our focus on three main points, 1. I need to make the wise choice. 2. I can trust God no matter what. 3. I should treat others the way I want to be treated.
The Club 45 Ministry is designed to inspire our pre-teens' to increase their faith in God by studying the Scriptures, engaging in and understanding the benefit of Christian fellowship, learning to love and serve others, and developing a desire for a personal relationship with the Lord.
The ALIVE Ministry is designed to provide an encouraging place for Jr. High students to gather together, love one another, and begin to understand church life as the Body of Christ at large in a safe atmosphere where they will be surrounded by coaches and peers who are constantly encouraging each other to live and love each other like Christ lived and loved us.
The GLOW Ministry is designed to teach the gospel, baptize, and train high school students as disciples of Jesus Christ. We wish to capture the hearts and minds with the power and the relevance of the gospel. We capitalize Family physical & spiritual as God’s intentionally designed vessel to carry out the mission of declaring His glory to the world.

On July 21st at 2:00 p.m., the ladies of Spring Meadows Church of Christ will host a Victorian Market/Afternoon Tea Party. During the afternoon tea, savor the delicacies available for your delight, participate in the "Mad Hatter" and a "Tablescapes" contest, and enjoy shopping with a host of varied vendors. This event kicks off our school supply drive which runs from July 29th and culminates on August 4th with our “Back to School Bash”. All proceeds from this event will go toward the purchase of school supplies and teacher gift cards for Spring Hill Elementary, Marvin Wright Elementary, and Brown Elementary in Columbia.
How can you be involved?
1) "Host" a table -a $50.00 donation for six to eight ladies. As a host you will be responsible for your table’s “tablescape”. However you choose to decorate your table, it must include dishes, silverware, and tea cups or glasses. Prizes will be awarded to three “tablescapes” based on the nomination of all ladies in attendance. Raid your grandmother’s closets and china cabinets, create your own scheme, be creative!
2) Reserve a “Seat” - $7.00 donation
Those who choose this option will have a reserved seat at a simple, but elegant table or may choose to decorate their respective table along with those who are randomly chosen to be seated with them.
3) Reserve a “Vendor’s” Space - $15.00 donation
The space will be a first come – first choice option. The spaces are available to any lady at SMCOC or any lady of the community. All proceeds derived from these spaces will be retained by the vendor. The size of the space will be determined on an individual basis. This option might be for those of you involved in jewelry, Mary Kay, or just are so talented and have created items we all want to own.
4) Be a participant in the “hat contest”. Prizes will be awarded for three different categories of hat design. This contest will be judged by “celebrity quests”.
(5) Dress in your summer finery, leave all your stress at home, and enjoy the time with your family and friends.
All reservations must be made by July 15, 2012.
